• Urge him to maintain tempo, unite Nigerians, revive economy, tackle insecurity

PAN-YORUBA socio-political organisation, Afenifere, and the Yoruba Council of Elders (YCE) have lauded President Bola Tinubu on steps taken, as well as appointments he has made so far in less than three weeks in office.
The bodies said Tinubu has taken bold steps, which would set the country on the path of recovery. Afenifere’s National Publicity Secretary, Jare Ajayi, and the Secretary-General of YCE, Oladipo Oyewole, stated these in separate interviews with The Guardian in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The Afenifere spokesperson urged Tinubu to unite Nigerians, revive the economy, boost agriculture and tackle insecurity frontally. Ajayi said: “We have seen decisiveness in policies and steps the President has taken so far. We hope the tempo will continue. It is not just to take decisive steps; the most important aspect of it is that the steps must have the potential of uplifting Nigeria, righting past wrongs to the benefit of majority of Nigerians.
“We hope Tinubu would continue along this line. We also expect decisive actions in areas of security, economy, boosting agricultural practices, management of mistrust and suspicion among ethnic nationalities, such that unity will be fostered to ensure harmonious relationships.
‘’The steps taken on fiscal policies will boost value of the naira. Such should be sustained so that the quality of the currency will appreciate. On fuel subsidy removal, we hope that prices of petroleum products would come down. We look forward to greater dividends of democracy for the entire country.
However, the Ezendigbo of Ibadan and Oyo State, Dr. Alex Alozie, charged the President on the need to engender justice, peace, progress and unity in the country where everyone would have a sense of belonging.
Alozie, who is the President of Non-Indigene Traditional Council of Oyo State, said: ‘’Let there be a new beginning in Nigeria. Let Tinubu pursue what will give us peace, development and unity.
‘’I want to see a Nigeria where Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, Fulani and others would be happy.
‘’I will not be against the release of Nnamdi Kanu if that will give us peace.’’
