The contest was disrupted in the second set when protesters from Just Stop Oil ran onto the court.

They threw orange confetti onto the turf, as well as pieces of a Wimbledon jigsaw puzzle.

A man and a woman were both escorted off afterwards, with the crowd unhappy at seeing play halted.

It is just the latest sporting event that the climate change activists have disrupted in recent weeks.

During the second Test of the Ashes, cricketer Jonny Bairstow carried a protestor off the pitch at Lords.

They also held up the England bus on their way to a one-off test match against Ireland earlier in June.
