The immediate past Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao (retd) said that during his tenure, the Nigerian Air Force adjusted to the changing security landscape of the country and maintained the safety of both the country and its airspace.
A statement on Saturday by the service spokesperson, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, stated that Amao said this at the fly-out ceremony in Abuja.
It read, “We have maintained a state of readiness, adapting to ever-evolving threats and ensuring the protection of our airspace as well as the safety and security of our dear country. It has been an honour and a very challenging and rewarding endeavor.
He also stated that despite the many challenges he faced, the service under him displayed an unequal capability in handling security challenges bedeviling the country.
Amao also said he left the Nigerian Air Force fulfilled and accomplished having reached the peak of his career
