Serie A side Sassuolo took their pre-season preparations to the extreme after they beat showcase side Real Vicenza 22-0 – seeing five players score hat-tricks
DAILY STAR
Serie A side Sassuolo beat Italian showcase team Real Vicenza 22-0 in a pre-season hammering that saw five players score hat-tricks and a 10-0 lead at half-time.
After finishing in 13th place in Italy’s top flight last season, Sassuolo seemingly wanted to start their pre-season with a confidence booster after previously only outscoring two other teams above the bottom five in Serie A.
A strong Sassuolo team, including Italy internationals Domenico Berardi and Andrea Pinamonti, hosted Real Vicenza in a pre-season encounter that has now gone down in history.
Pinamonti, Janis Antiste and Nedim Bajrami all scored hat-tricks, whilst Kristian Thorstvedt scored four times in the second half and Samuele Mulattieri netted five in little over half an hour in the second 45.
The incredible scoreline received plenty of interest on social media, with one person claiming both teams should have adopted the classic “still 0-0 lads” calls from the touchline on a Sunday morning.
A second suggested that Sassuolo may have used all their luck in front of goal up in one go, saying: “They scored all the goals meant for their season in one game!”

Whilst a third question “Who gets the match ball?” possibly seeing all five hat-trick scorers arguing over who gets to take it home.
