Statista, a German online platform that specialises in data and information gathering, has ranked Nigeria as the country with the “57th best health system” in the world.
In the platform’s 2023 edition of the report titled Health and Health Systems Ranking of Countries Worldwide in 2023, Singapore was ranked as the country with the best health system in the world. The report also recognised Japan and South Korea as the second and third on the list of countries with the best health care systems in the world.
Other countries that made the report’s top 10 are Taiwan, China, Israel, Norway, Iceland, Sweden and Switzerland.
Nigeria is currently in the 157th position, a step behind Equatorial Guinea and a step ahead of Angola.
Alarmingly, the seven countries that occupy the bottom of the list are all African countries. They are Eswatini, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Lesotho, Chad, South Sudan and Central African Republic.
