NLC issues 48 hours ultimatum to police to vacate NURTW secretariat

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), under the leadership of Joe Ajaero, has issued 48 hours ultimatum to the Nigeria Police Force to direct its operatives to immediately vacate the National Secretariat of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Abuja.

The NLC, in a statement issued at the end of its emergency National Administrative Council (NAC) today, asked the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, to withdraw his men from the NURTW office.

The labour group also urged President Bola Tinubu to without further hesitation, clear his name which is reportedly being peddled by those who have forcefully taken over the NURTW’s secretariat with the aid of security operatives.

Earlier on Monday, the NURTW raised alarm over an attack on its national secretariat located at Garki 2 Abuja.

Naija News reports that the NURTW, in a statement jointly signed by the President, Alhaji Tajudeen Ibikunle Baruwa, and General Secretary, Anthony Asogwa Chukwudi, on Monday in Abuja, alleged that there is an illegal plot by some leadership of the South West States Park Management Committee to cause chaos at its head office in Abuja.
