NASA’s UFO study team to announce results today: Watch the briefing live

NASA is all set to announce the results of the nine-month-long independent study it commissioned on UFOs. Here is how you can watch it live.

NASA’s independent study team for studying UFOs (unidentified flying objects) is ready to present its findings which will be revealed today. Here is what you can expect from the report and how to watch the presentation live as it happens.

The space agency in 2022 selected 16 individuals to be part of its independent study team on unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP). UAP is a new term for UFOs, and it is used to refer to abnormal objects or events in the sky or even in space. NASA will host a briefing at 7.30 PM IST (10.30 AM EDT) on Thursday to discuss the findings from the study. You can watch the streaming live on NASA TV or through the link below when it starts.

David Spergel, president of the Simons Foundation, is the chair for the independent UAP study team. He will be joined by NASA leaders during the event held in Washington, including Bill Nelson, administrator for the space agency; Nicola Fox, associate administrator for the NASA Science Mission Directorate; and Dan Evans, assistant deputy associate administrator for research at the directorate.

The full report itself will be published about 30 minutes before the briefing on the space agency’s website.

The UAP study team’s research could lay the groundwork for studies into UFOs in the future, according to the space agency. The team looks to learn how data gathered from various different sources can be analysed to shed light on the mystery of the unidentified flying objects. But don’t get too excited at the prospect of seeing classified data in the report—the study focuses exclusively on unclassified data.

The distant possibility of identifying alien aircraft is not the only reason this study is important for the American Space Agency. Identifying UAPs has national security and air safety implications. Currently, the study’s only focus is to inform NASA about what data could be collected in the future to understand UAPs better.
