FOOTBALL LONDON
Vladimir Coufal has expressed his belief that Declan Rice will win more trophies with Arsenal this season, despite their Carabao Cup defeat to West Ham United.
Rice, who moved to Arsenal for £105million after spending ten years with the Hammers, had a successful stint as captain with his former club, leading them to victory in the Europa Conference League last term. Rice has enjoyed a superb start to life at the Emirates but the 24 year old couldn’t help the Gunners fight back in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.
The tie at the London Stadium saw Rice enter as a substitute to mixed reactions, while West Ham secured a 3-0 win thanks to an own goal by Ben White and second-half goals from Mohammed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen. David Moyes’ side are now set to face Liverpool in the quarter-finals and while success in the Carabao Cup is now off the table for Arsenal, Coufal is confident that Rice will add to the Community Shield he won in August.
“I think they’ll win something for sure,” said Rice’s former West Ham teammate. “They’ve won the Community Shield already, so he already has a trophy with Arsenal. I think they’re not too disappointed to lose this game.”
Coufal also shared his feelings about seeing Rice play for a different team, saying: “It was something special, to see him on the other side of the pitch. He’s doing an incredible job for Arsenal, even better than he did for us.
