Manchester United flop Massimo Taibi looks almost unrecognisable over 24 years on from his infamous Premier League howler.
The Red Devils signed goalkeeper Taibi for £4.5million from Serie A side Venezia in the summer of 1999, and he entered Sir Alex Ferguson‘s starting XI immediately to deputise for the injured Mark Bosnich.
He was named Man of the Match on his debut, a 3-2 win against Liverpool, but quickly went from hero to zero when he let Matt Le Tissier’s tame shot slip through his legs in a 3-3 draw with Southampton.
“I had a similar incident like that at Torino. It happens. It’s an accident, not an error. An error is to come out for the ball and miss it but an innocuous shot which goes through your legs is just a total accident.
