New Nigeria People’s Party has commiserated with the Government of Ogun State on the gruesome murder of the Director of Finance and Accounts, Taiwo Oyekanmi.
The PUNCH reports that Oyekanmi was gunned down on Wednesday while returning from the bank where he had taken a bullion van to withdraw some funds for the state.
The commiseration message was contained in a statement signed by the NNPP National Secretary, Sunday Oginni on Thursday.
According to Oginni, the Party believed that something was wrong with the security architecture of the state, saying the attack was a serious indictment on the state Command of Nigerian Police.
He said, “It’s obvious that something is wrong with the Security architecture of Ogun State most especially the Police. The attack was a serious indictment on the Ogun State Command of Nigerian Police.
“We hereby call for the immediate change of the Leadership of Ogun State Security Agencies to send signals and quick arrest of the security collapse of the State.
“A broad day attack on the Ogun State Bullion Van a few meters to Governor’s office and a stone throw to Police Command is unacceptable.”
NNPP, however, called on the state government to beef up the security and maintain peace in the state.
“We are hereby urging the Governor not to relent in his efforts to make Ogun State safe and peaceful.
