LAGOS – Eleven out of the 12 officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) referred to the panel of investigation for various offences and indicted have been recommended for compulsory retirement, dismissal and reduction in ranks.
The Officers faced the panel of investigation for corrupt practices and absenteeism.
Adebayo Taofiq, Director, of the Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA who disclosed in a statement made available to Saturday Independent said the panel reports recommended dismissal, reduction in rank, and compulsory retirement of the officers.
He said: “Operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) on Thursday, November 30, 2023, arraigned 12 officers before the disciplinary panel for various offenses bothering on corrupt practices and absenteeism in line with the extant rules as guided by the Lagos State civil service rules and regulations.”
Also, the Acting General Manager of LASTMA, Bakare Oki Olalekan disclosed that the disciplinary panel which was statutorily constituted with three Permanent Secretaries in attendance, adjudicated cases of corrupt practices against the officers and forwarded their recommendations to the State Civil Service Commission for ratification.
