The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has offered appointments to some Nigerians through a politician. This followed the agency’s disclaimer of blog posts claiming that it was recruiting suitable Nigerians into open job roles.
A number of blogs had circulated FAAN recruitment claims on their websites and social media channels. It would, however, turn out that the FAAN’s denial of the claims was a smokescreen to divert public attention from what was supposed to be a transparent and competitive job recruitment process as required by law.
In his response of November 28, FAAN warned citizens to be wary of those blogs. The press release, signed by Abdullahi Yakubu-Funtua, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, FAAN, read in part: “Do Not Patronise Counterfeit recruitment Websites. FAAN is not Recruiting.
“The attention of the management of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, has been drawn to the information circulating on social media that FAAN is recruiting and requesting people to apply online
“The Authority uses this medium to reiterate that FAAN is neither recruiting directly presently nor has the Authority contracted anyone to carry out recruitment exercise on her behalf.
“The general public is herewith advised to be wary of such counterfeit recruitment websites and desist from patronising them to avoid being scammed…
