The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reiterated its resolve not to allow corruption to continue to destroy the socioeconomic fabric of Nigeria.
It therefore called on the people to unite to ensure that corruption, which it described as a hydra-headed monster, is stamped out of the country.
Speaking during a road walk in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital, to mark the 2023 International Anti-Corruption Day with the theme, “UNCAC @20: Uniting the World Against Corruption,” the Zonal Commander of EFCC, ACE-1 Bawa Hamidu Saidu, noted that if corruption would be conquered, the people should unite, enhance transparency, and ensure that institutions are strengthened.
According to him: “We must stand together, enhance transparency, and strengthen our institutions if this threat called corruption must be countered. We cannot allow corruption to destroy this country any further. United we stand as a people against corruption. United we defeat corruption! And united, we take our rightful place.”
The zonal commander also noted that in uniting the World Against Corruption, the zone would work without allowing interference and ensure that corrupt persons are called out irrespective of social standing.
