US President Joe Biden warned Russia that it was counting on the US pulling out of Ukraine, as he announced $200 million in weapons to help Kyiv drive out Russian forces and pledged his full support to visiting President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
In the event that Republicans failed to approve the new military aid plan, which is stalled in Congress and includes roughly $61.4 billion for both Israel and Ukraine, the White House warned that the security package might be “one of the last.”
According to Biden, there is a chance that right-wing lawmakers will reject the package and give Russian President Vladimir Putin a victory as a “Christmas gift.”
Biden’s comments came as Zelenskyy went on the diplomatic offensive during his third visit to Washington, DC since Moscow began its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
Republicans have attempted to link the spending to new border security measures, but they also appear to be questioning the war itself.
