The Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has congratulated the Nigerian-born professor, Ogechi Adeola, who was appointed as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kigali, Rwanda.
Adeola was announced as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kigali, Rwanda on Thursday.
The Governing Body of the institution said her appointment takes effect from January 11, 2024.
Prior to her appointment, Adeola was an Associate Dean of Business Administration at the University of the People, California, USA.
In a series of tweets on his X handle on Sunday, Obi said Adeola’s appointment is a reminder that Nigeria has an abundance of talent, which could transform the nation.
He wrote, “I heartily congratulate Professor Ogechi Adeola, a Nigerian, recently appointed as Deputy Vice-Chancellor – Academic (DVCA) at the University of Kigali (UoK), Rwanda, by the Governing Body of the University.
“Prof Adeola’s appointment at the University of Kigali (UoK), is an obvious connection and reward to her hard work and track record of brilliance and success. Her story, therefore, reminds us that Nigeria has an abundance of talents, which when nurtured under productive leadership, will transform our nation.”
Obi added that having responsible leaders would ensure a conducive space for Nigerians to fully explore and excel in their talents.
