Atiku, Obi, Kwankwaso join forces to tackle Tinubu

Pat Utomi, a political economist Professor disclosed on Sunday that three prominent presidential candidates—Atiku of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Obi of the Labour Party (LP), and Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP)—have united to form a potent political alliance.

The aim is to challenge and displace the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming 2027 elections.
Speaking exclusively to Channels Television, Professor Utomi highlighted the urgency of this collaboration, stating, “It’s a really clean start. Nigeria has not had a genuine political party since 1999. What we have are platforms for machine politics, often resulting in state capture. If you assess the quality of life in Nigeria since 1999, it’s evident that the current system has failed to improve it.”

Drawing comparisons with India, Professor Utomi emphasised the divergent paths both nations have taken since 1999. He pointed out, “India’s politics focused on rational engagement, leading to a developmental state. Today, India is surpassing the miracle economies of South-East Asia. Conversely, Nigeria has regressed. We haven’t organized structures for political participation that prioritize the people and uplift their lives.”
