1. The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, on Thursday tackled President Bola Tinubu over the economic hardship in the country, which it said was worsening. The President of the NLC, Joe Ajaero, who faulted Tinubu’s economic reforms at the 21st Daily Trust Dialogue in Abuja, warned the President against heeding the advice of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund.

2. Vice President Kashim Shettima says President Bola Tinubu has approved the “Pulaaku Initiative”, a non-kinetic solution to deal with insurgency and banditry in the North, and has equally allocated the sum of N50bn to the initiative, in its first instance. “Pulaaku” is a Fulani word that loosely means “to be shy”.

3. The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has said that the door of the party is open for Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State to join the party. This was as the Chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, said Kano State was important to the political fortunes of the APC.

4. The Kaduna State Police Command says its operatives attached to the Tafa Divisional Headquarters have arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered N2.3m as a share of the ransom collected from victims. This was according to the command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, in a statement in Kaduna on Thursday.

5. Works Minister, Dave Umahi yesterday said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved funding for the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano and the Lagos-Ibadan highways, as well as the Second Niger Bridge II bypass projects. The minister said the approval would remove the financial constraints hindering the three projects.

6. Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma has assured that the Federal Government is doing everything possible to bring the menace of crude oil theft and its attendant ills on the nation’s economy, to an end. Uzodinma spoke to journalists at the State House, Abuja, after a meeting with Vice President Kashim Shettima.

7. Tonye Cole, the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate in the 2023 election, has congratulated Rivers Governor, Siminalaiyi Fubara over the Supreme Court’s ruling that rejected his objection to the election. Cole stated this in a video he posted on his social media accounts hours after the verdict.

8. Muslim community in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, on Thursday, said they had buried 16 victims of the crisis that occurred in the area between Tuesday and Wednesday.

9. The Katsina Elders’ Forum has vehemently opposed the planned relocation of some critical projects, including the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Airport’s refurbished airport rescue and firefighting vehicles project to the southern part of the country.

10. The Nigerian Police, through its Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department in Ikoyi, Lagos State, has arrested Oyeabuchi Okafor and Jasmine Okekeagwu for allegedly conspiring and defrauding Mr. John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu, of N55 million.
