66th Grammys: Tyla beats Burna Boy, Davido, others to win maiden African category

South African singer, Tyla has made history as the first-ever winner of the inaugural Best African Music Performance category at the Grammys.

Tyla’s ‘Water’ defeated songs by Nigerian singers: Davido’s ‘Unavailable,’ Asake’s ‘Amapiano,’ Burna Boy’s ‘City Boys,’ and Ayra Starr’s ‘Rush’ to clinch the award.

The 22-year-old has now become the youngest African to win a Grammy.

Meanwhile, Davido’s ‘Timeless’ and Burna Boy’s ‘I Told Them’ also lost the Best Global Music Album award to Shakti’s ‘This Moment.’..
