Nigerian airline owner demands fair airport charges, calls for ticket price reform

United Nigeria’s COO, Osita Okonkwo, highlighted how airport charges significantly inflate flight ticket costs. 

At a press conference marking United Nigeria Airlines’ three years of operation, Okonkwo explained that alongside aviation fuel expenses, airport charges were a major factor in ticket price hikes. 

These charges include passenger service fees, landing fees, and additional fees for flights after 7:00 pm. Various airports levy different charges, with some charging extra for extended operating hours.

 Okonkwo stressed that these charges, compounded with fuel costs, warrant ticket prices ranging from N150,000 to N200,000, considering exchange rates and the soaring cost of aviation fuel, now at N1,300 per liter…
