NIGERIAN TRIBUNE
Residents in Lagos State are eagerly lining up to purchase bags of rice offered by the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) at the cost-effective price of N10,000.
The NCS, led by Comptroller General Adewale Adeniyi, initiated the distribution of seized food items, ensuring a well-organized process. Adeniyi emphasized that customs officials are strictly prohibited from participating in the distribution.
The official statement outlined that the rice, packaged in 25kg bags, is targeted at specific groups like artisans, teachers, nurses, and religious bodies within NCS operational areas.
The initiative aims to establish direct communication channels for effective distribution. Adeniyi warned against resale, emphasizing the NCS’s commitment to transparency and accountability throughout the operation.
The orderly scene witnessed women patiently awaiting their turn to receive the purchased rice.
