**Title: Alleged Assault on Police Officers: Two Defendants Appear Before Surulere Court**
Amaka Anulia and Kelechi Anyinwa stood before the Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Tuesday, facing charges related to assaulting and intimidating two police officers.
The defendants, Anulia aged 33, and Anyinwa aged 38, are accused of conspiracy, resisting lawful arrest, and assault, according to the three-count charge brought against them.
The incident, as disclosed by Prosecutor Insp Reuben Solomon, occurred on February 20 at No 46, Towolawi St., Coker, Surulere Lagos, where the defendants allegedly assaulted two police officers engaged in official duty.
The officers, ASP Afolabi Olushola and ASP Gladys Nnaji, were reportedly attempting to invite the first defendant to address allegations of obtaining money under false pretences when the assault took place.
Despite pleading not guilty, the defendants face charges punishable under Sections 172, 174, and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State.
Magistrate Mrs Sanusi Adagun granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 each, requiring two responsible sureties for each defendant, with their employment status verified and addresses confirmed by the court.
The case has been adjourned until March 18 for further proceedings.
