Controversial comedian Oluwaseyitan Aletile, better known as Seyi Law, opened up about a significant loss in his social media following attributed to his outspoken support for President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 election campaign.
Speaking as a guest on a recent episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, hosted by actor Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, also known as Nedu, along with Toun Cole and Husband Material, Seyi Law shared the impact of his social media activism on his follower count. He revealed that he had seen a substantial decrease of over 200,000 followers due to his endorsement of Tinubu.
The comedian’s candid admission sheds light on the polarization and intense reactions surrounding political affiliations within the Nigerian entertainment industry. Despite facing backlash and experiencing a significant loss in his online community, Seyi Law remains resolute in his support for Tinubu, showcasing his commitment to political activism and freedom of expression.
The comedian said, “I lost over 200,000 followers because of the election which for me, is not a problem. The most important thing is that whatever you do, try as much as possible to draw that you’re doing it from the right place. Whatever you do, are you sure that you are doing it from the right place? Is it fair to those concerned? If you’re not being fair, don’t do it.”
