Dangote Refinery has enhanced its supply of imported crude oil from the United States with another cargo departing American shores bound for Nigeria. On Friday, a second consignment of US light sweet crude oil set sail for delivery to Dangote Refinery, as confirmed by a trader and ship tracking data.
According to reports from Reuters, the vessel Otis, loaded with approximately 850,000 barrels of WTI Midland in Houston last week, indicated Lekki in Nigeria as its destination, as per Kpler and LSEG ship tracking data. The vessel is anticipated to arrive in the country around mid-March.
Sources reveal that the vessel was chartered by Vitol, a well-known entity in the industry, as confirmed by data sources and a trader.
Meanwhile, the initial shipment of two million barrels of US crude, transported via the very large crude carrier, Gem No. 1, also chartered by Vitol, is nearing Nigeria and is scheduled for discharge next week.
Situated on a peninsula on the outskirts of Lagos, Africa’s largest commercial capital, Dangote Refinery boasts a nameplate capacity of 650,000 barrels per day. The refinery was spearheaded by Aliko Dangote, the wealthiest individual on the continent.
