Thieves caught with Kogi’s 53 stolen transformers on their way to Lagos

Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, expressed his appreciation to security agencies in the state for their successful recovery of 53 transformers stolen from the National Integrated Power Project facility.

Governor Ododo commended the dedication and effectiveness of the security agencies operating in the state, describing them as steadfast in fulfilling their duties.

In a statement released on Monday by his media adviser, Ismaila Isah, Governor Ododo stated, “The recent interception of 53 electrical transformers intended for electrification projects across the state is timely and praiseworthy. Even more encouraging is the subsequent apprehension of members of a criminal syndicate responsible for this act, indicating progress in the fight against crime in the state.”

The stolen electrical transformers were traced back to the National Integrated Power Project facility in the state and were intercepted by authorities in Obajana while en route to Lagos State.

Governor Ododo emphasized the significance of recovering these transformers, which are now securely stored at an Abuja Electricity Distribution Company facility in the state. He highlighted that the theft could have hindered efforts to provide electricity to various communities.

He added, “What’s noteworthy about this breakthrough is that the criminals provided valuable information leading to the arrest of a fleeing gang member in Ilorin, Kwara State, and the alleged recipient of the transformers in Lagos State.”

Governor Ododo assured security agencies of his administration’s unwavering support to safeguard the lives and properties of the state’s residents.
