Suspected terrorists launched a brazen attack on the Buda community in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, reportedly abducting no fewer than 61 individuals.
While official confirmation from state and police authorities is pending, a resident informed PUNCH Online that the assailants descended on the village late Monday night, around 11:45 pm, seizing 61 people.
Dauda Kajuru, a resident, described the harrowing ordeal: “What happened yesterday was terrifying. The bandits came intending to abduct scores of people, but the swift response of soldiers curtailed the number.”
Kajuru lamented the resurgence of banditry since the departure of a revered Army Commander, known as “Tega,” who had effectively quelled such activities. “It is unfortunate Commander Tega was removed…when we’re experiencing the return of peace in our villages,” he expressed.
Lawal Abdullahi, another resident, confirmed the abduction of 61 individuals, including men, women, and even a nursing mother of two weeks. Abdullahi, whose wife was among the victims, urged the government to take immediate action for their safe return.
The community remains on edge as loved ones anxiously await news of the abducted individuals’ fate.
