The Senate has taken action against Senator Abdul Ningi of Bauchi Central, suspending him for three months following his allegations regarding the padding of the 2024 budget by N3 trillion.
Several senators supported the decision, calling for appropriate measures against Ningi for his claims.
Former Kaduna senator, Shehu Sani, took to his verified social media handle to outline the implications of Ningi’s suspension. Sani highlighted that Ningi will be barred from attending plenary sessions and committee meetings, as well as participating in oversight functions.
Additionally, his salary, allowances, and entitlements will be suspended, and he will lose access to his office. It is also expected that Ningi will not be permitted within the premises of the National Assembly until the suspension is lifted.
