Lagos State Police Command has brought Umaru Abdul before Magistrate Patrick Nwaka of the Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court for impersonating a military personnel. Abdul faces charges of conspiracy to impersonate, forgery of an official identification card, and impersonation by posing as a military personnel.
Reportedly, on January 11, 2024, Abdul was apprehended for donning a Nigerian Army camouflage uniform unlawfully, along with possessing an identity card bearing the Nigerian Army emblem, identifying him as “Abdul Umar,” holding the rank of corporal.
Following his arrest in the Ijegun area of Lagos State, Abdul was arraigned at Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court on Monday. DSP Thomas Nurudeen, the prosecutor, stated that Abdul committed the alleged offences on January 11, 2024, citing violations of Sections 411, 79(1)(a) and (b), and 78(a) and (b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Abdul pleaded guilty to all three charges, and his uniform and fake identification card were submitted as evidence.
