FUTA Vice Chancellor calls on students to aid research, product development as 5,986 matriculate

The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), Professor Adenike Oladiji, has called on newly admitted students to leverage their time at the university to engage in research and product development aimed at addressing the nation’s challenges. She made this statement during the Combined Matriculation ceremony held on Thursday, March 28th, 2024, where over 5,986 undergraduate and postgraduate students were admitted for the 2023/2024 academic session.

Professor Oladiji emphasized the importance of students’ contributions to research, innovation, and the development of new products and applications across various fields, including digital technology, to positively impact society and tackle real-life problems.

Furthermore, she highlighted the significance of postgraduate students’ research activities in enhancing the university’s global ranking and encouraged students to align with FUTA’s vision of becoming a world-class University of Technology. She urged them to uphold the institution’s core values of integrity, creativity, accountability, rationality, and excellence throughout their tenure.

Professor Oladiji commended FUTA’s reputation as a research-intensive institution, backed by numerous awards, and urged the new students to actively participate in advancing the university’s mission and bolstering its position among global universities.
