Russia ‘state of emergency’ as radiation leak with ‘lethal contamination’ found

A ‘state of emergency’ has been declared in a Russian city after a mystery potentially cancer-causing radiation leak was detected.

Access to the area of Industrialny district in Khabarovsk, a city on the Amur River in southeastern Russia, has been restricted as authorities scramble to locate the source of the radiation.

The mystery radiation source was today (April 5) “removed and placed in a protective container” and “transported to a radioactive waste storage facility”.

Reports suggest that authorities have claimed the safety of city residents was not compromised by the situation.
