The train was stopped by the police, and the Nigerian man was arrested for fleeing from the authorities reports the Daily News Hungary.
The Kaposvár District Prosecutor’s Office has charged a Nigerian man in his 30s with prisoner escape for removing his tracking device and attempting to flee abroad to evade ongoing criminal proceedings.
The man, previously under criminal supervision for drug trafficking since May 2021, had restrictions on leaving Kaposvár’s administrative territory without permission.
Despite this, he removed his tracking device in late March 2024 and traveled to Kaposvár, intending to go to Budapest and then Germany. However, police officers from the Fonyódi Police Station intercepted him on a train to Budapest at Balatonlelle and took him into custody.
The defendant now faces legal proceedings for breaching the terms of his criminal supervision
