Former advocate for the Yoruba Nation, Tenny Omoologo, has raised alarm over purported efforts by the group she previously aligned with to discredit her and falsely implicate her in the recent invasion of the Oyo State Government Secretariat, Ibadan by Yoruba nation agitators—a situation she asserts she had no involvement in.
Omoologo conveyed her apprehension while addressing journalists, highlighting her decision to distance herself from the group since last year due to perceived lack of sincerity within its ranks.
She emphasized that she is no longer affiliated with the group.
The former advocate for the Yoruba Nation, while describing as regrettable move by some individuals to ensure that police apprehend her “in connection with the events at the Oyo State Government secretariat, purportedly due to one of my Facebook posts,” declared pointedly that she was no longer affiliated with the group, and was not informed about their activities, adding: “This can be verified through my social media profiles.”
“Recently, there were reports of Yoruba Nation agitators allegedly invading the Oyo State Government Secretariat in Ibadan. However, I cannot provide any insight into these events as am no longer affiliated with the group, and I was not informed about their activities. This can be verified through my social media profiles.
“It is regrettable that individuals have reportedly urged the police to apprehend me in connection with the events at the Oyo State Government Secretariat, purportedly due to one of my Facebook posts,” she said.
“Amid ongoing allegations, I suspect a concerted effort to discredit me, similar to the treatment another individual received after distancing himself from their circles.
“I deny any involvement in these unfounded accusations and urge authorities to conduct a thorough investigation. I have no knowledge of the recent secretariat invasion by their group, having departed from the Yoruba Nation agitators’ association in June 2023. The situation has left me feeling overwhelmed and distressed,” she added.
Speaking further, Omoologo recalled how actively involved she was in the Yoruba nation agitation movement but had to withdraw her support upon discovering alleged insincerity within the group.
