Chelsea to acquire 31-year-old defender to succeed Thiago Silva

As Thiago Silva prepares to leave Chelsea at the end of the season, the Blues are reportedly targeting 31-year-old Manchester United defender Raphael Varane to bolster their defense.

Silva, in a heartfelt video released few weeks ago, announced his departure from Chelsea after his contract expires.

The 39-year-old has been instrumental in Chelsea’s defense, contributing to their UEFA Champions League victory and amassing 154 appearances.

However, according to Fichajes, Chelsea have identified Varane as a prime transfer target for the summer.

The Frenchman is seen as an ideal replacement, bringing experience and stability to Chelsea’s backline.

However, Premier League west London club will face stiff competition for Varane, with Juventus and Al-Nassr also expressing interest in the former Real Madrid centre-back.
