The leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has said he would seek negotiation with the Federal Government over his ongoing trial.
Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has expressed his willingness to seek negotiations with the Federal Government of Nigeria over his ongoing trial for alleged terrorism charges.
Kanu, who has been in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS), made this known through his lead counsel, Alloy Ejimakor, at a Federal High Court hearing in Abuja on Wednesday. The IPOB leader indicated that he would pursue these negotiations pursuant to Section 17 of the Federal High Court Act, which encourages reconciliation and amicable settlement between parties.
While the Federal Government’s counsel, Adegboyega Awomolo, stated that he did not have the authority to negotiate on behalf of the government, Kanu’s legal team has been advised to approach the Attorney General of the Federation to initiate the negotiation process.
