Ibrahim Lawan, Director of Primary Health Care in Nangere, Yobe, has been suspended for diverting Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) meant for malnourished children.
Lawan has confessed to the theft, but downplayed the quantity, claiming it was not as much as alleged, and appealed for mercy.
A five-member committee has been set up to investigate the matter, and recommend strategies for ensuring accountability in distributing supplements and medical consumables.
Ibrahim Disa has been appointed as acting Director of PHC in Nangere, pending the outcome of the investigation.
