New Poll: Nearly two-thirds of Democrats want Biden to withdraw from presidential race

The new poll sharply undercuts President Biden’s post-debate claim that “average Democrats” are still with him.

A new poll by the AP-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research found that nearly two-thirds of Democrats believe President Joe Biden should withdraw from the presidential race and let another candidate run.

The poll also showed that only about 3 in 10 Democrats are extremely or very confident in Biden’s mental capability to serve effectively as president, down from 40% in February.

The findings suggest that Biden faces significant challenges in his bid for re-election, with many Democrats questioning his ability to lead and calling for him to step aside.

The poll also found that Vice President Kamala Harris’s favorability rating is similar to Biden’s, but with slightly fewer Americans holding an unfavorable opinion of her, as speculation grows about her potential role in the presidential race.
