More people will have multiple partners in the future, according to sex experts.
They found a shift in relationship dynamics in the next 50 years will see many either embracing more lovers or choosing to remain single. The study by sex-toy brand Lelo predicts a “softening of rather persistent attitudes towards having multiple partners” in 50 years’ time.
“For those outside of a relationship, we might see more of a decoupling between sex and commitment,” it said. “Sex is good for us, and the more we come to understand that, the more ‘friends with benefits’ might be a much more normal arrangement.
“We’ll have more partners – but not when we used to. Teenagers might be abstaining but we’ll be more promiscuous in our 30s… and beyond.
“We’re more likely to have more partners later in life as we grow in confidence and personal development.”
Robots will also play a bigger role in our sex lives as people turn to virtual avatars and artificial intelligence to get their kicks.
“Realistic elves and aliens will replace firemen and nurses,” the study said.
“As the technology evolves and becomes more accessible, it seems inevitable that more people will have sexual experiences with robots.
