Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsi has picked up a one-match ban at the 2024 Paris Olympics and will have to sit out Spain’s final group game next week against Egypt.
The youngster has started both of Spain’s games so far, against Uzbekistan and the Dominican Republic, and has been booked twice – resulting in a one-match ban,
Cubarsi will therefore have to watch the final game against Egypt from the sidelines. The match is likely to decide which team progresses as group winners.
It’s been a fairly eventful tournament for Cubarsi so far. He conceded a penalty in the first game and was involved in a red card incident against the Dominican Republic.
Edison Azcona decided to kick out at the Barca star after the two had gone to ground and was quite rightly handed his marching orders.
Cubarsi will hope to return to the starting XI for the quarter-final tie alongside Barcelona team-mates Eric Garcia and Fermin Lopez.
The two players have also started both Spain games so far in France, with Lopez on target in the win over the Dominican Republic.
