Reuben Abati, a former presidential spokesperson, has called on the federal government to cut back on extravagant spending in light of the country’s cost of living crisis.
Speaking on ‘Duke Rants Muvmnt’ in Lagos, Abati criticized the government’s plan to allocate N21 billion for renovating the president and vice-president’s residences amid the current economic difficulties.
“How can they justify spending billions on renovations when people are struggling to get by? It’s unacceptable and out of touch,” he remarked.
He highlighted the need for leaders to prioritize the welfare of citizens, stating, “In this cost of living crisis, leaders must make sacrifices and put the people first.”
Abati concluded, “I see life differently. I don’t view life through the lens society has imposed on us.”
