Kano police arrest foreign nationals sponsoring protests

The Kano State Police Command has reported the arrest of several foreign nationals suspected of financing the protesters. This announcement followed a security meeting between the state’s Police Commissioner, Salman Dogo, and the Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf.

Protests, initially demanding an end to bad governance, saw some participants waving Russian flags, causing alarm among the authorities. In response, security forces intensified their efforts, resulting in the arrest of the foreign suspects.

Commissioner Dogo, addressing journalists after the meeting, stated, “The police and other security agencies will clamp down on anyone attempting to tamper with the security of the state.”

He stressed that authorities are taking all necessary measures to maintain peace and order.

Governor Abba Yusuf, reacting to the escalating situation, called an emergency meeting with security agency heads. Following the meeting, he announced a further relaxation of the existing curfew, now set from 6 AM to 6 PM.

“We are committed to ensuring the security of Kano State and the well-being of our citizens,” said Governor Yusuf. “The relaxation of the curfew is aimed at easing the burden on our people while we continue to monitor the situation closely.”
