Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has berated Nigerian lawmakers over the personal determination of their salaries and allowances.
Naija News reports that Obasanjo made this known at his home in Abeokuta, Ogun State, during a meeting with six members of the House of Representatives.
In the snippet shared by Channels TV, Obasanjo opined that the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Commission are supposed to fix the salaries and allowances of Nigerian lawmakers.
According to the former President, it is immoral for lawmakers to determine the amount they earn.
In his words, “With all due respect, you are not supposed to fix your salaries or allowances. It is supposed to be done by the Revenue Mobilization and Fiscal Commission. But you decide to pay yourself, the allowances that you give yourself, both paper allowances, pant allowances, you give yourself all sorts of things. and you know it is not right.
