The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has invited Favour Igiebor, a woman who publicly tore her husband’s passport at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos at the weekend.
A video recording of the scene created by the angry Igiebor at the airport in the presence of airport staff and passengers surfaced on social media on Saturday.
The NIS subsequently issued a statement confirming that an investigation has commenced on the matter while the woman remains in its custody.
Over the same incident, the NIS had issued two separate responses signed by K.T. Udo, Service Public Relations Officer, saying the matter was being investigated as specified by the Immigration Act 2015.
FIJ observed that the first statement, issued on Sunday, specifically mentioned the woman’s name and her passport number.
Curiously, the NIS deleted that statement and issued another one in which it left out Igiebor’s name and passport number without giving any reason for taking it down.
