Oluwaseyi David Adebayo, a 400-level student in the Department of Animal Production, tragically died while hiking in Minna. On August 10, Adebayo was on a hiking trip with fellow students when he slipped from a hill and fell into a fish pond, resulting in his death.
It was reported that local residents in the area refused to release Adebayo’s body until rituals were performed to prevent similar incidents for seven other people. Although the university initially did not comply with this request, concerned individuals eventually intervened by paying the required amount and providing a white ram for the sacrifice.
The university’s Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Lydia Legbo, stated after four days that the institution was not aware of the situation.
