President Bola Tinubu has cut short his trip to France and returned to Nigeria to swear in Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) today.
According to Tribune Online, the President arrived from France on Thursday evening to inaugurate the most senior justice of the Supreme Court as the acting CJN. This follows the retirement of Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, who stepped down on Thursday after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 70.
Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, confirmed the development, stating, “The President is interrupting his private visit to France and returning today (Thursday) to swear in the Chief Justice of Nigeria tomorrow (Friday),” as reported by PUNCH.
The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. at the Council Chamber of the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja, according to Onanuga.now
