Residents raise alarm over abandoned corpse in Akute

Residents of Fasakin, off Ishasi Road, Akute, Ogun State have raised alarm after allegedly men of the Ajuwon  Police Station allegedly demanded for the sum of N300,000 to remove a dead body in the area.

According to reports, a dead body of an unidentified man was discovered on the street in the area on Wednesday. The residents said the deceased cannot be identified as a resident.

A resident who wants to be anonymous told our correspondent that the Chairman of the Landlord Association in the area reported the incident to Ajuwon  Police Station where he was initial told to make deposit of N150,000 for the dead body to be removed.

“GOOD MORNING HOUSE, please we needs everyone’s help this morning, there’s dead body lying straight in front of our close since yesterday evening, the Corps has been reported to the police for quick evacuation but, they said the community needs roughly 150,000 for the documentation they needed at the mortuary like the DPO said.

“The health ministry said he cant be remove without proper documentation from the police.

“For the 150,000 ,the police said we are going to pay for the transportation from here to IFO,Covid test form, investigation to know if he was brutalize by the community but fortunately for us there was no injury on him!,” a statement sent to our correspondent by the resident.
