23-year-old Chidinma Vanessa Adetshina representing Taraba State has been crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2024, beating out 24 other contestants for the coveted title.
Adetshina clinched the coveted crown at the grand finale of the beauty pageant held at Eko Hotel and Suites on Saturday night.
Born and raised in South Africa, Chidimma’s multicultural background includes a Nigerian father and a Mozambican mother. Her journey to the crown has not been without controversy, but ultimately, her grace, intelligence, and elegance shone through.
Chidimma initially faced criticism and accusations of fraud upon her entry into the Miss South Africa pageant, leading her to withdraw from the competition. However, her story caught the attention of the Miss Universe Nigeria organisers, who extended an invitation to compete in their pageant. Entering as Miss Taraba, Chidimma proved her detractors wrong by emerging as a strong contender in the competition.
The Miss Universe Nigeria pageant was a dazzling event that showcased the beauty, intelligence, and poise of all the contestants. As the competition heated up, the top five finalists were announced: Chidimma Adetshina (Miss Taraba), Paula Ezendu (Miss Anambra), Edeifo Brittany (Miss Edo), Ayegbidun Peace Olamide (Miss Ondo), and Nyekachi Douglas (Miss Rivers).
The night culminated in the announcement of the top three winners, with Miss Ondo earning the title of Miss Lush, Miss Anambra named first runner-up and Miss Supranational, and Chidimma Adetshina taking home the coveted title of Miss Universe Nigeria.

“This crown is not just for beauty; it’s a call for unity,” Chidimma stated after being crowned.
As the newly crowned Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidinma will represent the country at the Miss Universe 2024 pageant, scheduled to take place later this year in Mexico.
She succeeds last year’s winner, Mitchell Ikachukwu, and will carry on the legacy of Nigerian beauty and excellence on the global stage.
