Nigerian drug trafficking convict released after years on death row in Indonesia

Nigerian man Emmanuel Ihejirika, sentenced to death in Indonesia for drug trafficking, has been released after years in prison. His release was made possible by Washington, D.C.-based Nigerian lawyer Emmanuel Isha Ogebe’s pro bono efforts.

Ogebe believed Ihejirika’s case was a case of mistaken identity and worked tirelessly to bring it before Indonesia’s Supreme Court, securing his release in December.
