Abuja, November 6 — The All Progressives Congress (APC) has advised Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State to refrain from basing his 2027 political aspirations on “unguarded and unjustified” criticism of the APC and President Bola Tinubu’s administration. The APC issued the statement in response to recent remarks by Makinde blaming the APC for crises within the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
In a statement by APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka, the party suggested that Makinde and other PDP leaders should focus on addressing internal issues within their party, rather than attributing blame to the APC. Morka called for the PDP to “take full responsibility for their disgraceful failure to handle the party’s implosion and decay.”
The APC further urged Makinde to prioritize governance over his political ambitions, describing his recent criticisms as “reckless executive flippancy” that could detract from his duties as governor. “While our democracy affords Makinde the liberty of political aspiration, engaging in attacks on the APC and President Tinubu’s administration at the expense of his role is a disservice to the people of Oyo State,” Morka said.
