US election: High hopes among Israelis for Trump’s victory

A survey by Israel’s Channel 12 news indicates that Israelis strongly favour Donald Trump over Kamala Harris as the next US President.

Dan Perry, former head of the Foreign Press Association in Jerusalem, explained that this is due to a widespread perception among Israelis that Trump would back almost any course of action the country takes.

However, Perry noted that Israelis “may be in for a surprise because Trump is very capricious,” suggesting he may be more inclined than Harris to press for a swift resolution to the conflict in Gaza.

“I think he (Trump]) will care less about the means in which it is achieved, but the idea of putting up with a forever war while Trump himself is on record as hating the notion of forever wars, I think stands on shaky ground,” Perry said.
