Court postpones hearing for 27 detained Yoruba Nation agitators

Relations and Associates of the detained 27 Yoruba Nation Agitators turned out in their large numbers as the Oyo state High Court sitting in Ibadan adjourned the case instituted against them by the government for further hearing till Wednesday next week

The security operatives were strategically positioned to prevent the breakdown of law and order as well as ensure a hitch-free court proceeding.

The Court, at the last hearing, was informed of the death of the 18th defendant, Adejumo Lateef, while in custody of the Nigeria Correctional Service.

The deceased was the 18th defendant in the suit.

Other suspects are being arraigned on a 5-count charge bothering on conspiracy, unlawful possession of firearms, unlawful assembly, treasonable felony and treason.

The offence, according to the charge sheet, was committed on the 13th day of April, 2024, at Ibadan, in the Ibadan Judicial Division, an offence contrary to and punishable under section 37(2) of the Criminal Code, Cap 38, Vol. 11, Laws of Oyo stare 2000.
