SAHARA REPORTERS
The assault, which began Thursday evening and continued through the night, targeted various cities and communities in the Odesa, Kharkiv, and Kyiv regions.
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that Thursday night’s attacks by Russian forces resulted in eight fatalities and over 40 injuries, including four children.
The assault, which began Thursday evening and continued through the night, targeted various cities and communities in the Odesa, Kharkiv, and Kyiv regions.
These regions have been subject to repeated attacks, with Kyiv being a focal point of Russian aggression.
Also in July 2024, Kyiv suffered significant damage, including strikes on residential buildings and infrastructure, such as the Okhmatdyt children’s hospital, which killed two adults and injured 16 people, including seven children.
“All evening and night, terrorists attacked our cities and communities with missiles, drones, and guided aerial bombs, targeting the Odesa, Kharkiv, and Kyiv regions,” the President said in a post on his X handle.
He said in Kharkiv, “As of now, more than 20 people have been reported injured, including an infant. Residential buildings and infrastructure were damaged.
“In Odesa, strikes damaged ordinary homes. One person was killed. My condolences to the family and loved ones. Nine people were injured.”
President Zelenskyy said emergency rescue operations were still ongoing in Zaporizhzhia following the attack, “which has so far claimed eight lives and injured more than 40 people, including four children.”
He added that on Thursday night, Ukraine forces shot down four missiles and approximately 60 strike drones launched by Russia.
“I am grateful to our defenders of the sky who are doing everything possible to protect our people from this terror, and to everyone involved in rescue and assistance efforts,” he said.
According to the President, “Each time Russia attempts to destroy our lives, it is crucial to respond collectively and decisively at the international level to reduce and block the potential for terror. Ukraine needs strength to achieve this.
“This is the only way to achieve a just peace and to ending the killing of our people.”
He said that air defense, long-range capabilities, weapons packages, and sanctions against the aggressor are the actions required, “not just words.”
